Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, or papaya) cut into chunks if fresh
  • 1 oz aged rum adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh citrus juice (lime or lemon)
  • 1 tbsp honey or simple syrup optional for sweetness
  • a handful fresh mint leaves for flavor and garnish

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Measure out the frozen tropical fruit and add it directly into the blender for a chilled, icy base.
  2. Pour in the splash of fresh citrus juice to add brightness and help blend the fruit into a smooth consistency.
  3. Drizzle in the honey or simple syrup if you'd like a touch of extra sweetness, then add the aged rum for that subtle spice and depth.
  4. Toss in a handful of fresh mint leaves to infuse a fresh, herbal aroma into the mixture.
  5. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high until all the ingredients are fully combined and the mixture is smooth and icy, about 30 seconds.
  6. Check the consistency; it should be thick, slushy, and cold. If it's too thick, add a splash of water or more citrus juice and blend briefly to loosen.
  7. Pour the frozen mixture into chilled glasses, creating a colorful, frosty appearance with visible fruit chunks and a layer of ice crystals.
  8. Garnish each glass with additional mint leaves or a wedge of citrus for a final touch of color and aroma.
  9. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon, enjoying the vibrant, icy texture and tropical flavors.

Notes

For a more layered appearance, add a small amount of grenadine or fruit syrup at the bottom before blending.
