Gatorade Slushie

This slushie is made by freezing a flavored sports drink until it’s icy and scoopable. It involves pouring Gatorade into a shallow dish and stirring periodically to create a cold, granular texture with a refreshing appearance. The final dessert is a icy, colorful treat that serves as a quick, energizing way to cool down.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Gatorade (any flavor) preferably chilled

Equipment

  • Shallow dish
  • Fork or spoon
  • Freezer

Method

  1. Pour the Gatorade into a shallow dish, spreading it out evenly to about half an inch thick.
  2. Place the dish in the freezer and let it sit undisturbed for about 30 minutes until it begins to freeze around the edges.
  3. Remove the dish from the freezer and use a fork or spoon to scrape and stir the icy parts, breaking up any large frozen chunks.
  4. Return the dish to the freezer and repeat the stirring process every 15 minutes, scraping and breaking up the ice as it refreezes.
  5. Continue this process for about 30 to 40 minutes until the mixture has a granular, slushy consistency — like icy snow.
  6. Serve the Gatorade slushie immediately in cups, using a spoon or straw for an icy, colorful refreshment.

Notes

For extra flavor, add fresh fruit or a splash of lemon juice before freezing.
